關於家西 About us

Founded in 2000 by Hsin-Hua Liu, Jia-xi Books is the first literary agency in Taiwan that specialized in licensing Chinese translation rights on behalf of European authors (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Swedish and Polish). Within only 3 years, Jia-xi Books licensed over 400 titles and became the major agency in Taiwan which represents European publications.
The agency expanded in 2004, adding Japanese and English lines. Now Jia-xi Books represent foreign publishers, agents and authors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Australia, Korea, and Japan in the Chinese markets (Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China), also represents Chinese authors in foreign markets, either directly or through sub-agents in many territories.
We distinguish ourselves from other Chinese agents in the close attention paid to each title. We don’t merely submit books with press material in the original languages, but also write our own rights guide in Chinese, providing synopsis, reviews, rights news and sales figures, even sample translation. It is a service that has been praised by our publisher clients.
Though based in Taiwan, in 2007, we started to work with publishers in all Asia: mainland China, Hong Kong, even Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. This year, we have more close relationships with them more than ever.
We are always on the lookout for new ways to strengthen our relationship with publishers. Besides our beautifully designed website where editors can download latest rights lists, we now maintain a blog which is constantly updated. We also create lists based on a publisher’s interest in a specific genre or subject.
We attend all major international trade fairs, including Frankfurt Book Fair, London Book Fair, Bologna Book Fair, Book Expo America, Tokyo Book Fair, Beijing International Book Fair, and Taipei International Book Exhibition.
Though relatively young, we are constantly growing and demonstrate vigor and aggressiveness unmatched by our peers. Working with us is the best way to the Chinese Publishing Market.
